Welcome to Bideford Youth Centre (Bideford)

Where young people are encouraged to cook and share food, play team games in the sports hall, play and record music in our purpose built studio, make and create a beautiful mess in the art room or chill and chat in the youth rooms. We have a culture of exploring food on a budget here and promote a sustainable approach to this where possible so expect to smell something interesting or unusual when you enter!

The open seating area creates a relaxed environment that is welcoming and inclusive… crafty bits and group games can be found here!

In the kitchen we focus on cooking on a budget, creating tasty meals to feed a group using inexpensive ingredients. All food/drinks in the centre are available to young people free of charge.

We have a large space for all things active - ball games, sumo, yoga, dance, the possibilities are endless!

The pool table is a popular area for chat and healthy competition, hosting tournaments within sessions, centres, and the youth service as a whole.

Our Art room offers a space to chill, relax, and create beautiful pieces using a wide variety of materials, empowering young people to express themselves creatively.

Equipped with a variety of equipment to record and manipulate sound, this is where electronic music is made!

A collaborative and inclusive space to create and practice making music.

Our Sessions

No need to book! All our sessions cost £1 to attend, so just come along to a session. To become a member, you can sign up online or on arrival at our youth centre. If you would like to visit the centre before attending a session, be sure to get in touch!

  • Juniors

    Mondays 6:30 - 9:00 pm

    Years 7 & 8

    Monday is our junior session; an opportunity for yr 7’s and 8’s to come in and let off steam, have fun and enlarge their friendship group.

  • Inters

    Tuesdays 6:30 - 9:00 pm

    Years 8, 9 & 10

    A lively and bustling session with high-energy activities, and quiet spaces available for those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. In this session we run creative projects, pool, ball games, agility courses, art, music, cooking, card games, and cover curriculum topics with creativity and flair!

  • Seniors

    Thursdays 6:30 - 9:00 pm

    Years 10 to 19 years old

    Thursday transition to adulthood session for yr10 up to 19yrs old. Topics covered include employability skills, how much does it really cost to pass your test and get on the road, moving out of home, and how to hold onto your job. We also have a vibrant well attended young volunteer group that is active in all sessions, who take time to commit to work in the wider community.

    I'm a Youth Support Worker based in Bideford. I like making a fool of myself! I sing, knit, sew, plant things, cook, do arts and crafts and will also turn my hand to DIY, building and upcycling. I will generally get involved in anything that is going on

    Hi , I’m here on a Tuesdays and Thursday, making music, playing games, giving you a space to chat - but not often in the kitchen.

    I like young people to dream big and enjoy helping them start that journey.

    Senior Youth Support Worker

    Hiya, you can generally find me at the centre on Mondays. Seek me out for sports hall activities, CV Writing, film making and a spot of Bass playing in the music room.

    Senior Youth Worker in Charge

    Hi I’m the lead worker. I make sure we deliver what you need and hopefully what you want. In our sessions I’m often found making a creative mess in the art room, the kitchen or outside!

    Hi, I’m Teresa the administrator for Bideford and Barnstaple. I am great at shuffling paper around and know lots about admin. However, I have lots to learn about youth workers but nothing ever surprises me! I work out of the front office and mainly work during the day. If you are ever in the centre and I am there, please pop your head in the door and say hi!
