Discord - Information and Expectations
Signing up to our Discord server
As you fill in our “Sign up to our Discord Server” form, you will be required to have created your own Discord Account as part of the process. Discord is a separate third party platform based in the USA. We take data protection very seriously and our privacy policy reflects that. Discord’s privacy policy can be found here as well as access to their family hub should you need further information about how Discord works and what it does with our data.

Our Expectations and Rules while on Discord
💙 This is a safe space – everyone should feel welcome and respected
🛑 Please avoid swearing and aggressive language
🚫 No use of substances before or during the session – these include (but are not limited to) drugs, alcohol and energy drinks
🗣️ When using the voice channels make sure you listen as well as speak
📣 Don't spam
🔇 Do not make high pitched/startling noises in the voice channels
🤖 If you want to use the music bot, please use the "bot-commands" channel!
⚠️ Do not share content from this server or stream this server – voice or text chat. Please don't be in the voice channels if you are streaming outside of this server. Do not share screenshots, videos or soundbites from this server.
🚫 No unsolicited server invites, in this server or DMs.
🚨 Sending/Linking any harmful material such as viruses, IP grabbers or harmware will result in an instant 3rd warning and removal from the server. Please see # warning-system for more information.

Once you have signed up to Discord here are some settings to get you started
If you have a friend who would like to join the server, they must be registered with Space before they can join. They can sign up online by filling in the form at https://www.spaceyouthservices.org/find-a-space#Become-A-Member and someone will get in touch with them
Making sure you don't get DMs from anyone you're not Friends with or anyone you don't share a Server with in your Settings > Content & Social > Social Permissions.
Check how you want Discord to use your data in your Settings > Data & Privacy
If you ever change your mind about a bot, / App / Activity, you can go to your Settings > Authorised Apps > "Deauthorise" any you like
Before you jump into different rooms, hit the cogwheel in the bottom left - in there you can change your profile picture, your username and any other settings you like. You can ask a Youth Worker to change your nickname on this server - this must include the first name you go by in real life. If you use a name different to the one on your birth certificate - that's ok, just let us know 😊
If you join a voice chat, we highly recommend you use push to talk and if you can, please use headphones/a headset to help minimise background noise.
⚠️ If you can't see or talk in any of the channels, please DM an Admin and someone will assign you a role once we've confirmed who you are - this is to ensure the safety of you and the other members of this server. This could take a while, so please be patient.
🗣️ Feel free to DM a Youth Worker if you need a chat – their names are yellow. If someone messages you and you aren't sure who they are, message a Youth Worker to confirm.
