Our Highlights

Welcoming our new CEO, Dan Barton

We are thrilled to announce that Dan Barton has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Space Youth Services.

Many of you will be familiar with Dan Barton, as he has been an integral part of Space since day one. Dan started with us in September 2004 and has been with us since we were part of DCC to spinning out into Space Youth Services as we are known today. His dedication, passion and unwavering commitment has played a pivotal role in getting the organisation to where it is today.

Community Fundraisers

Maddie and Amelia were out and about showing some love around Exeter with a little Valentine’s Fundraiser in February.

They prepared some roses and bunches of tulips with ribbons and cards for people to purchase with a donation to Space Youth Services.

Amelia, our Fundraising Events and Engagement Officer, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “So much fun to get chatting to people around our Exeter centre, and to spread a bit of love for Space.”

Digital Youth Work Research - Marjon University

Matt from Space was involved in the final research session at Marjon University on digital youth work. Matt is our Senior Youth Support Worker in Charge of the Digital & Creative Team and is an expert in the field of digital youth work.

The research project was led by Marjon University and has collaborated with Young People Cornwall, Space Youth Services, In the Mix Project Somerset and Plymouth Youth Service. All the findings from this research will help to upskill the youth workers of tomorrow and give a snapshot of skill gaps whilst engaging young people digitally.

This expertise could include any number of skills beyond youth work, such as administration, management, and teaching skills. And we invite all Trustees to learn and develop on the job.
